About us Conscious Blog

Leaving no sustainability stone unturned

When it comes down to sustainability in fashion industry, Kings of Indigo is considering itself as one of the leading companies in measures taken to lower negative impacts of fashion industry on the planet.
Establish in 2011 by Tony Tonnaer, the brand is based on 5 pillars that define their approach to slow fashion. They are paying attention to the planet friendly materials, water usage, social impacts, transport and waste of production. You surely cannot miss the brands designs, as they are truly unique, such as the brand itself.

“We want to encourage consumers to passionately engage in when buying clothes, to consciously buy and choose quality items that last a lifetime. We have to give them the tools to make the best decisions by being honest and transparent. This way we can guide the consumer past greenwashing and get them into real quality wear for the next era.”

Founder Kings of Indigo
The brand is constantly two steps ahead of the latest sustainable practices and taking into consideration issues other yet not thought about. As an example, the brand is using still more and more percentage of recycled cotton, using recycled materials form other industries, such a metal trims made of used hospital equipment or creating new materials such as Bio-Stretch to replace elastane which is not earth-friendly. The brand also brings to attention social equality, not only via supporting a 100% safe work environment but also by creating special collections. In their Equalpockets collection, all women jeans have pockets equally as deep as men’s pockets. This way, the brand is taking a stand for equal pay for both men and women.
Via their Reuse the Blues, the brand invited young designers to create new life out of old jeans and it continues with this initiative since July of 2018.
Kings of Indigo products are 100% vegan and as of July this year, the brand is sending all online purchases in biodegradable poly-bags which can biodegrade in 2-3 years when discarded. Every aspect of the production and the lifecycle of all of their product is well thought through, paying attention to the smallest detail when encounters sustainability.
